The Primary Presentation

Today was our wards Primary Presentation. I got a lot of comments about my children! Dallin and Alex were the first kids to say their parts. They knew their part forwards and backwards but they get up there and it seems like they have never heard of it! They had to be told every word. Then they sit down and Alex stands up on his chair and yells to me, "Mom, I did it!". A wave of giggles erupts in the congregation. Then he climbs up on the steps to the microphone and gives me a hardy wave! Another wave of giggles. Then he leans over the rail of the podium and says, "Mom, I want CANDY!". I am feeling the heat rise in my face and am motioning for him to sit down and fold his arms...all the while thinking how much I hate halloween at this moment! Well after about 20 times of him calling to me from the podium that he wants candy I decide it is time for me to intervene. So I try not to act like I am storming up to retrieve my child, but as soon as he sees me coming he jumps back from the rail and runs to his chair scrambling over the back screaming, "NO MOM, NO!". So I discretely sit down in a chair at the end of his row, the front row! I lean over and whisper to him in the sweetest voice possible, with a loving smile on my face - I am being watched I am sure by the whole ward - asking him to come and sit with me so I can talk with him. "NO MOMMY, I DON'T WANT TO GO DOWN!" he screams. Eventually I get him to come and sit with me so I can tell him that he needs to sit quietly. "I WANT CANDY. IF I SIT QUIETLY CAN I HAVE CANDY?" he asks in his not so quiet voice. I whisper lovingly, "if you sit quietly, we will see. But not if you yell it out again." I head back to my seat in the congregation, hoping with all hope that that would help him sit.
"MOMMY, I WANT CANDY", he says again and again. What am I to do? Scott leans over and whispers, "we need to take him out." I whisper back, "if I go up there again he is going to scream all the way down here."

"It is better to have him scream for a few seconds as we walk out the door then have him up there distracting the whole presentation."

I see his point but am not looking forward to try to convince two little red headed boys down from the stage, in front of every body without making a scene! Well of course that is NOT going to happen! So I go up and coax them close. I grab them both and carry them screaming down the aile. Scott meets me half way and carries the loudest of the two, Alex, down the aile and out the door. I take Dallin and sit down in our pew and try to keep him quiet for the rest of the presentation, Deneile and Ava haven't said their part yet. Deneile and Ava were nervous so I told them to look at me and pretend I am the only one in the room, so I couldn't leave until they were done. Deneile was the very last child to speak and I finally take Dallin out.

So there you have it! The boys first Primary Presentation! Some people came up to me shaking their head saying, "Boy you have your hands full". Many people came up to tell me how entertaining it all was, and why did I take down the entertainment! Well I am glad they enjoyed it. I am sure in a few years I will also be able to look back and laugh - maybe after my face has changed from red back to it's original colour! ha ha!

Halloween

Well this year I had trouble remembering my camera!! I took one picture of Ava in her costume but didn't take any of my other children!! I might have to get them into their costumes again so we can take some pictures. Scott is so the picture taker in the family so we did get some of the pumpkin carving because he was there. ha ha!
Ava dressed up for school as Snow White, but when I went to pick her up she swore she would not wear this itchy costume one more minute. I couldn't convince her to put it on again to go trick or treating. We scramble for a minute but then Deneile came down with an old costume that she had worn when she was 5!! Thank Heavens...

We went to Disney world this October so our pumpkins were Disney theme. I am actually pretty proud of myself because I didn't have any templates for these. I just looked on line and drew onto the pumpkin what I saw pictures of. Deneile loved the feel of the pumpkin guts!!
Alex with his Pumpkin Party hat from Preschool... He had to wear it while carving the pumpkins!

Dallin really enjoyed gutting his pumpkin!Ava loving her pumpkin.

You can't really tell what the two on the sides are but the one on the left is Goofy and the one on the right is Donald Duck... unfortunately Donalds eye was a little finicky and the little piece came out but it looks good lit.

Mickey and Minnie

They are a little blurry but you get the idea.

Donald Duck

and of course Goofy!!

It was a lot of fun carving these... although I helped out at Ava's school that same day and carved probably half of her classes pumpkins! I was pumpkined out by the end, but they turned out nicely I think!

More crafts

So after making the photo canvas my mom saw the pictures on my blog and commented that she wanted one. So for her birthday this month I made one for her. So here are the pictures for it.

To finish it off I bought little tiny hinges and put the two sides together so it could sit up on a table top or shelf. It turned out really nice but I since I put the hinges on at the hardwear store then took it strait to the post office to mail it off and get it to my mom by her birthday I didn't get any pictures of it.

Crafting

So I made these out of canvas for the wall. I thought they were cute and thought I would post them. I made them out of canvas and painted them. It was fun. I love doing this sort of stuff!

Dallin'ander'

So the last few days I have been teaching my youngest twin that his name is actually Alexander, not just Alex. So he was repeating it back to me then he says, "Alexander...Dallinander" (Dallin is the name of my older twin) It was really cute. Of course I said that it was "just Dallin". So later today I was telling Scott (my husband) about it and so he laughed and said "Dallinander" and Alex pipes up from the back seat and says, "No it's just Dallin". Of course it is probably way funnier for me then it is to write but I had to write it down! It is amazing how fun and exciting days are. It is also wonderful that you try to remember the good stuff when it comes to the kids.

The begining

I guess this is my first time ever writing in a blog. I actually don't even know exactly what to write, but my sister keeps telling me I should start one. So here it goes.

I have been on this ogranizing kick. I have decided that I want to paint my house and decorate it. So my friend said she would come and help me organize before we decorated. So we started with my front hall closet. We got rid of 13 kids coats and 4 big bags of shoes. It is amazing what kind of stuff that just gets piled up in closets.

The next progect was the dreaded computer desk and book shelf. Getting rid of 8 phone books and a lot of paper stuff that is just sitting there for no reason.

Then today was the pantry and the spice cupboard. I went to Ikea and got a lot of spice containers. I had to get rid of all those bulk bags of spices. So finally I got all the boxes of spagetti and noodles that have been piled up on top of everything in order, spices in order. Pantry in order. It feels good to be decluttering the place. Even if it is one step at a time.

The kids have been pretty good while I was organizing today. They played well and didn't need too much of my undivided attention so I was able to get some work done. Although, when the kids are playing well it usually means that I have a lot of clean up when I go and find what they are up to. I had to put the mattress back on the boys bed and make their beds again. They had all the trains and Lighting McQueen cars out all over but not too much to worry about. Nothing compared to some of the messes I have had to clean up over the years. Unfortunately I am starting this blog now and not over the last year and a half. Those were very exciting times... I am amazed I am still up and running... although with twin 3 year old boys that is all I am up and doing!
