The Boy

Ava can't always tell the boys apart, so she has a habit of calling them, 'The Boy'. "Mom, the boy hit me". "Mom, the boy is jumping on my bed". "Mom, the boy called me a name". You get the idea. I ask her which one she is talking about but she never knows.

Well today she did it again. "Mom, the boy...". Well The Boy piped up from the other room. "The boy, the boy, the boy.... how would you like it if I called you the girl". So of course I turned to her with my most serious face (I was laughing hysterically inside) and said, "Ava, you really need to figure out who is bugging you so you can tell me his name." She replied, "Well I can't tell them apart... Can I just call them both Dallin?"

Hair Cuts

I can't believe it!! It has finally happened. Ava has decided what she wants to be when she grows up!! I came home from Young Women's last night and went to brush my teeth. I notice some hair lying on the counter. Hmm, I thought, what would that hair be from? I did a little investigating. There was hair on the floor too. A little more thorough inquiry brings me to the garbage, where there is quite a bit of red and and a little blonde hair, and a pair of scissors hiding behind the garbage can. I call out to Scott, "Did you cut the boys hair?"

"No", he replies. (I am not surprised, but I didn't want to just jump to conclusions you see.)

So I go into Ava's room, she is sleeping like an angel! I pick her head up to check her hair... I couldn't tell that there was much wrong with her hair. So I go into the boys room... Ah yes, I see now. Dallin and Alex have had their hair cut. Dallin has a chunck out that is so close to the scalp that I was amazed that they didn't cut themselves. But of course those reliefs come after the rage of "I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY CUT THEIR HAIR!!!"
They were sleeping and I couldn't chastise them at the moment so I went to bed and called my sisters to vent! (I wasn't able to vent to one of my sisters but her husband was kind enough to let me vent to him.)
In the morning I got up and the 3 little dev... I mean angels, were playing in Ava's room. So I asked who cut the hair. Ava looks down thoroughly abashed, while Alex throws up his hand and says "I cut my hair!" Dallin says, "I didn't cut anyones hair, Ava cut mine." Since I was able to sleep on it I was able to explain to them that they should not ever cut anyones hair. It is NOT OK!! Yadi yadi yada. Then I took some pictures of the boys.

Dallin looking ashamed.

Alex looking like he is trying not to smile. (which he did!)

stinker!

Well as you can see, Ava has decided that she would try her hand at being a hair stylist. I don't know about you but I think that she could use a little practice. I hope the next time she cuts hair it will be after she goes to school for it!!!

I didn't find anything wrong with Ava's so I didn't take any pictures, but as I was doing her hair for school later I noticed that she cut her hair very close to the scalp, but her hair was hanging over it. I will take pictures and add them later.

Science Experiments

The boys preschool teacher suggested that the boys may like to do some science experiments at home so I went to the library today and got a couple of books. Today we did slime...

The boys loved it!!

Cake Decorating

My Friend Angela and I decided to take a basic cake decorating course. We did it a dumb way. I would never recommend anyone taking the 4 classes in 1 week. Usually it is once a week for 4 weeks, that, I think, would be a way better way of doing it. We had to make a ton of icing and 2 cakes and 8 cupcakes. It definitely the Cake Week! All we did was bake cakes and make icing everyday. ha ha. But I am happy that I was able to take the course, even if we did it the quick way. It was fun and I enjoyed having that time to go out with Ang.

Summer

I am writing everything out of order but I haven't been very good at updating.
One of my favorite summer activities we did this year was a boat ride with my parents over to Saltspring island. We saw the fin of a dolphin, which was very exciting. We drove along the coastline of Duncan area and Maple Bay. Then we drove across to Saltspring Island. We docked at a restaurant dock and climbed up the stairs to get to the restaurant. On the way up the stairs their was a huge bush of huge, sweet, burst in your mouth blackberries. They were so delicious that we almost didn't make it up to the restaurant for ice cream cones. Eventually we made it up the stairs. We got our ice cream cones and sat out on the patio that hung over the cliff and had a beautiful view! Then we went back down the stairs and as we did Dad noticed a plum tree growing right there on the cliff just off the beach. The plums were so sweet and amazing! I wish I could just pick them all and take them home. I had to content myself for a handful as we boated back to Croftin where we had put in the boat. I love riding in the boat. I love the water. I think I was ment to be a mermaid... a long, skinny, beautiful one...

Alex so proud of himself for driving the boat!!

Mom and Ava enjoying the ride.

Alex sitting in the bow of the boat. I really do love my dad's boat.

Soccer

So my boys have joined soccer! They are totally excited and are loving every minute of it!

Primary

My boys sometimes get tired in Church. Scott was sick and I had the kids by myself. (You know you dedicated when you take 4 children 8, 6, and two 4 1/2 year olds to church by yourself). Anyway, I was fighting to keep the boys awake so they wouldn't be grumpy in primary when I had to wake them up. So they went to primary happy as larks... (Mmmm, how happy are larks, if they are really happy then maybe not as happy as larks)... but when I went to watch Deneile give her talk and Ava do the closing prayer the boys had succumbed.

A friend checking to see if he is really asleep!

Placemat purses

I love a good deal!! I went to Walmart and they had some of their placemats on sale for $1. I bought some and found a pattern on the internet to make purses from them. They are soo easy and so cute!! I love them so much. I was just called into YW's and so for an activity I am going to have them make these lovely purses. I hope they like them!

The leaves were on the place mat and I think that it is very cute!!

The tinkerbelll and flowers are iron applique's, I think that they add a lot.

"And their not even airplanes!"

We have figured it out, my sisters and me, that my kids are city kids. I know, I know it is sad but it is true. At the end of this summer my sister had Deneile come and stay at her house for a week. They live on a 1/4 acre outside of Vernon. They have a big garden there. My brother also lives in the neighborhood and my sister in law also has a big garden. While Deneile was there Christie went and picked carrots so they had their green tops on. Deneile looked at these tops and Christie explained to her what they were and took her out to the garden to show her that vegetables grow in the garden. My sister thought it was very funny that my children had no idea what a carrot looked like from the garden.

A few weeks later we went out again for my brother's baby blessing and we had a weiner roast out in their back yard. It was getting dark and Dallin runs up to me very excited. He points up to the sky and says,

"Mommy! Mommy! Look at all those stars! And they are not even Airplanes!!". Oh to be a city kid!
